winter forums at the sarjeant:

ANNETTE MAIN and the Flying Fox
In 1990 Annette Main moved to an isolated property alongside the Whanganui River, that is now known as The Flying Fox. Surrounded by the beech forests of the Whanganui National Park and with no access by road, the area's more recent history is reminiscent of the era of the Mangapurua Valley. Now a successful business combining environmental principles with a strong sense of history, The Flying Fox has guest accommodation in fully furnished cottages that have been built from recycled materials by Annette and her husband John. Annette will give and illustrated presentation discussing life today at the Flying Fox, the history of the area and the challenges that face a business in an area so strongly steeped in history. Wednesday 30th July at 7.30pm
