Oh no, we're closed again
The recent devastating Whanganui floods have meant that the Sarjeant on the Quay is closed while we assess the damage to the ground floor and take remedial action. Work is now under way to replace water-damaged wall linings and the floor is being lifted to clear away the silt underneath. We will have a final work prgramme by the beginning of next week and will let you know when we can welcome you back!
Our nationally-important collections are safe and secure. Our Sarjeant team responded quickly to enact our emergency plan, ensuring that at no time were any artworks threatened. This is the same team that recently celebrated an outstanding achievement in the transfer of the 8,000 strong collection from our earthquake-prone 1919 Gallery in Pukenamu/Queens Park.
The Sarj team is back down at Sarjeant on the Quay working hard to prepare for re-opening. Our shop is open online and taking orders; and our education team is hard at work.
We are very mindful of our friends and neighbours at this time who are enduring considerable hardship and our thoughts are with them.
Thanks for your continued support. We'll keep you posted as events unfold.
Right now we need our sky filled with stars!
