TYLEE COTTAGE ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCY: Postponement of call for applications

News >>

Following the devastating Canterbury earthquakes, the Wanganui District Council has (as have other local authorities up and down the country) undertaken to assess its buildings for safety in the event of a major earthquake. As a result of detailed analysis the Sarjeant Gallery has been assessed as earthquake prone, in that it meets 5% of the current new building standard. The Council is now assessing the Gallery’s future operation in the current facility and the Sarjeant team has reviewed its 2012 – 2013 programme accordingly.

In the light of this we are postponing our call for applications for the artist-in-residence programme at Tylee Cottage for the period March, 2013 to December, 2014, due on 31 August, 2012. We consider the residency to be a fundamental component of our programming and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

As soon as we know the course of future operations we will publicise the outcome of that decision and how it will effect the residency via the Gallery’s newsletter; email list; this website; the Gallery's Facebook page and Twitter (@SarjeantGallery).

Thank you for your patience and we look forward to updating you as soon as we can. If you have any queries please contact Greg Donson - Curator/Public Programmes Manager by email or telephone (06) 349 0543 extension 8277.

If you would like to be updated via email when a decision is made please contact raewyne.johnson@sarjeant.org.nz
